The Plukenesia research pipeline presents a structured journey from scientific questions to innovations in use. Projects may sit at different stages, and not every project must become a commercial product. Decisions to advance, improve, partner, or stop are based on data, risk, user needs, and feasibility.

Ten Development Stages

  1. Needs and Material Exploration — Identify the problem, user needs, material potential, resources, regulatory context, and possible impact.
  2. Identification and Characterization — Confirm material identity, composition, physicochemical properties, quality profile, source variability, and critical attributes.
  3. Standardization and Method Development — Establish specifications, marker compounds, analytical methods, acceptance criteria, and quality-control foundations.
  4. Preformulation — Examine solubility, stability, compatibility, permeability, solid-state properties, excipient needs, and formulation risks.
  5. Formulation and Optimization — Select technology platforms, apply experimental design, define critical quality attributes, and optimize composition and process.
  6. Laboratory Evaluation — Test physical, chemical, microbiological, and stability attributes, release behavior, in-vitro activity, and product performance.
  7. Safety and Benefit Evidence — Conduct preclinical, safety, observational, or clinical studies according to product category, intended claims, research ethics, and regulatory requirements.
  8. Scale-up and Process Validation — Translate laboratory processes to pilot or manufacturing scale, addressing critical parameters, batch consistency, cost, and facility readiness.
  9. Regulatory and Market Readiness — Prepare dossiers, claims, labels, packaging, quality documentation, intellectual property, business models, supply chains, and market-access strategies.
  10. Downstreaming, Commercialization, and Impact — Pursue licensing, production, distribution, community adoption, post-market monitoring, impact evaluation, and continuous improvement.

Decision Gates

Projects are assessed against validated user needs; sufficient safety, quality, and benefit evidence; reproducibility and scalability; sustainable sourcing and controlled supply chains; and clear regulatory, intellectual-property, cost, and partnership pathways.

Maturity Indicators

Each project may be presented with its research status, technology readiness level, available evidence, next needs, partnership opportunities, and contact point. Sensitive or unpublished information remains protected according to research ethics, confidentiality agreements, and stakeholder ownership.
